Program Details

The University of Tokyo Amgen Scholarship provides undergraduate students passionate about biology, biomedical, and related sciences with a unique opportunity to engage in high-level research.

Each selected participant will be assigned to a laboratory within one of the following five participating faculties:

• Graduate School of Science

• Graduate School of Engineering

• Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences

• Graduate School of Agricultural and Life Sciences

• Institute of Industrial Science

The program aims to nurture young scientists interested in pursuing graduate studies and careers in scientific research.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the 2026 University of Tokyo Amgen Scholars Program, applicants must:

• Be enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program (or equivalent) at a college or university in the Asia region or beyond.

• Have completed at least their first year of undergraduate study by the start of the program.

• Not be graduating before the summer program begins and must return to their undergraduate studies afterward.

• Have an excellent academic record.

• Demonstrate good English proficiency (minimum TOEFL iBT score of 72).

• Show a strong interest in pursuing a Ph.D. or research-related career.
