Scholarship Details
The Japan Study Support Scholarship (JPSS) welcomes applications from international students worldwide (excluding Japanese citizens) who plan to begin their academic journey in Japan.
Scholarship recipients are required to submit periodic progress reports during their study period, which may be published on the JPSS website or associated platforms.

Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for the Japan Study Support Scholarship, applicants must:

Have secured admission into a Japanese university for undergraduate or postgraduate studies, starting Spring (April/May 2025) or Autumn (September–November 2025).

Hold a registered MY PAGE account on Japan Study Support (JPSS).

Have received a JPSS Scout message from their admitting university before acceptance.

Be able to communicate effectively in English or Japanese for the interview.

Possess a Japanese bank account (personal name; internet banks not accepted).

Be a non-Japanese citizen.
Scholarship Benefits and Duration
The Japan Study Support Scholarship provides:

500,000 Yen to one (1) successful applicant after university enrollment.

100,000 Yen each to two (2) successful applicants after university enrollment.
Required Documents
Applicants must prepare and submit the following:

Completed Application Form (basic personal and academic information)

Short Essay (maximum 350 words in English or 800 characters in Japanese) titled “Motivation to Study in Japan & Future Goals.”

Self-Introduction Video (maximum 30 seconds)
Important:
Applications containing false information will be rejected.
If a candidate withdraws, drops out, or is expelled, scholarship funds must be refunded.
Periodic scholarship reports must be submitted annually.
