The WIA Young Leaders program, an initiative by Women In Africa (WIA) Philanthropy, is dedicated to supporting and highlighting young African women who are poised to lead the African revolution. The program is now launching its 4th edition with the support of prominent partners such as Dior, Lazard, KPMG, and TotalEnergies.

About Women in Africa (WIA)

Women in Africa Initiative is a social impact organization committed to empowering African women entrepreneurs and leaders. Its mission is to bolster the economic impact of women across the continent. Over the past four years, WIA has created the first pan-African and international platform that unites all relevant actors, implements training programs, and communicates widely on themes related to “Women * Business * Africa”. Through the Women in Africa Philanthropy Endowment Fund, WIA develops various programs to support African women, including students, entrepreneurs, and professionals.

Aim and Benefits of the WIA Young Leaders Program

The WIA Young Leaders program is designed to nurture the next generation of African women leaders by providing them with unique opportunities for growth and development. This year, 10 leaders will be selected to benefit from a comprehensive, tailor-made training program that focuses on leadership and essential skills for the future.

Requirements for WIA Young Leaders Program Qualification

  • Women between 25 and 40 years old (flexibility possible depending on experience level)
  • Born in an African country or having parents born in an African country
  • Involvement in the development of the continent and social commitment
  • Leadership skills (humility, empathy and resilience)
  • Special consideration will be given to candidates with “self-made” backgrounds
  • Vision of what Africa should be in the future.
  • Willingness to reconcile business conduct, social impact and public/private dialogue.
  • Ability to take on responsibilities at the highest level.
  • Strong convincing skills combined with a taste for teamwork.
  • Francophone, Anglophone, ideally bilingual.

The selection process will be conducted in two phases:

  1. Selection based on file: 12 pre-finalists
  2. Interview with the jury: 10 selected leaders
