We are thrilled to announce the expansion of the Women Creating Wealth (WCW) program by the Graça Machel Trust, in collaboration with the Finance and Accounting Services Sector Education and Training Authority (FASSET). This initiative is dedicated to empowering African women entrepreneurs by providing essential skills, tools, mindset training, business development support services, and access to a vibrant business community and network.

WCW is the flagship entrepreneurship program designed to enhance the confidence, skills, and networks of women entrepreneurs, enabling them to scale their businesses and transition from income generation to wealth creation. The program has already made a positive impact on 1,000 women entrepreneurs in Eastern and Southern Africa.

About Graça Machel Trust

Graça Machel, a prominent advocate for women’s and children’s rights, has been a social justice and political activist for many decades. In 2010, she established the Graça Machel Trust as a Pan-African advocacy organization focusing on child health and nutrition, education, women’s economic and financial empowerment, leadership, and good governance.

WCW Entrepreneurship Program

Aim and Benefits of WCW Entrepreneurship Program:

  • Structured training on the WCW Online Ignite course with customized coaching, mentoring, advice, and technical assistance.
  • Equip yourself with the mindset, tools, skills, resources, and networks to accelerate business growth and unleash your potential as a woman entrepreneur and wealth creator.
  • Set audacious goals, find accountability partners, and strengthen personal mastery, confidence, and resilience.
  • Receive invitations to regular entrepreneurship networking events and round tables to build social and business capital.
  • Access a pool of rated service providers to support growth, access to markets, and finance.
  • Upon completion, become part of a 3-year dynamic movement led by women entrepreneurs committed to creating wealth and employment opportunities.

Requirements for WCW Entrepreneurship Program Qualification:

  • Women entrepreneurs in South Africa.
  • Age: 18 and above.
  • Registered business owner with a minimum qualification of a matric certificate and the ability to study online.
  • Business operation for 2 years or more.
  • Operational business or a product/service that can be tested in the market with growth potential.
  • Businesses can be sole proprietorships, partnerships, companies, cooperatives, or groups.
  • Annual business turnover between R120,000 – R10 million.
  • Business must fall within financial services sectors, including various categories.

Interview Date, Process, and Venue for WCW Entrepreneurship Program

Important Dates:

  • Information session 1: 8 February 2024, 12 pm – 2 pm SAST
  • Information session 2: 14 February 2024, 12 pm – 2 pm SAST
  • Application deadline: 16 February 2024, 12 am SAST
  • Application outcome notification: 22 – 23 February 2024, All day
  • Entrepreneurs’ bootcamp: 26 & 27 February 2024, 12 pm – 2 pm SAST
  • Course commencement: 4 March 2024, TBC

Programme Duration:

  • 10 months
    • 4 months of blended learning (recommended time commitment: 4-6 hours per week)
    • 6 months aftercare (recommended time commitment: 2-3 hours per week)

Upon completion of all required assignments and tasks, participants will receive a WCW certificate of completion and an invitation to join a vibrant WCW business community for ongoing support and inspiration on their wealth creation journey.

Documents Required for Application:

  • Certified Identity Document (ID), not older than 3 months.
  • Proof of business registration certificate.
  • BEE certificate OR an affidavit, not older than 12 months.
