USTC Scholarship Program: Aim and Benefits

The USTC Scholarship Program offers two levels of support:

  • Level A (funded by USTC): Includes a tuition waiver, comprehensive medical insurance, a monthly stipend of 2,500 RMB, and accommodation subsidy.
  • Level B (funded by USTC): Encompasses a tuition waiver.

Requirements for USTC Scholarship Program Qualification

To be eligible for the USTC Scholarship Program, applicants must:

  • Be non-Chinese citizens with a valid passport, in good physical and mental health.
  • Have passed new HSK Level 5 or above. Applicants whose native language is Chinese or those who can provide proof of studying at a high school where the teaching language is Chinese may apply for HSK test exemption.
  • Emigrants from mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan applying as international students must obtain their current foreign citizenship before April 30th, 2020, and have lived abroad for at least 2 years between April 30th, 2020, and April 30th, 2024.
  • Meet the conditions set by the Document No. 12 (2020) of the Ministry of Education of the PRC (Annex I).
  • Hold a high school diploma (equivalent to a high school diploma in China) by July 2024.
  • Be under the age of 30 by September 1st, 2024.

Documents Required for Application

Application materials include:

  • Application Form for International Students (Undergraduate Program) (Annex II).
  • Photocopy of passport (including pages with Chinese visa or residence permit, if applicable).
  • Notarized photocopies of senior high school graduation certificate and transcripts.
  • Photocopies of Certificate of new HSK Level 5 and transcripts.
  • Foreigner Physical Examination Form (Annex III).
  • Recommendation letter from senior high school.
  • Guardian Statement (Annex IV) for applicants under 18 by Sept. 1st, 2024.
  • Additional documents for emigrants from mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan.

How to Apply

Applicants should create an account in the USTC Application System and select the fellowship they wish to apply for. They can apply for one or two levels simultaneously, and USTC will determine the fellowship level based on the overall evaluation of the applicant. Each applicant can only be supported by one scholarship.
