The University of Glasgow is offering up to 30 Sanctuary Scholarships for the 2025/26 academic year to support students who have been forced to travel to the UK for humanitarian reasons and face challenges in accessing higher education.
Eligibility Criteria:
To be considered for the Sanctuary Scholarship, applicants must:

Hold a firm conditional or unconditional offer for full-time undergraduate or postgraduate taught study at the University of Glasgow for the 2025/26 academic year.

Have one of the following immigration statuses:
-
Submitted an asylum claim in the UK.

Are actively appealing a negative decision on an asylum claim in the UK.

Granted Refugee Status, Humanitarian Protection (HP), or Discretionary Leave (DL) by the Home Office as a result of an asylum claim.

Arrived in the UK through specific resettlement or relocation schemes, such as:

UK Resettlement Scheme (UKRS)

Afghan Citizens Resettlement Scheme

Afghan Relocations and Assistance Policy (ARAP)

Syrian Vulnerable Persons Resettlement Scheme (VPRS)
-
Ukraine Sponsorship Scheme (Homes for Ukraine)

Ukraine Family Scheme

Benefits of the Scholarship:

Tuition Fees: Full waiver of tuition fees for the duration of the study program for applicants who are not eligible for mainstream student finance to cover full tuition fees.

Stipend: An annual stipend of £5,000 to assist with study costs.

Accommodation: University accommodation for the duration of the study, if eligible, particularly for those with no access to public funds.
Application Process:

Ensure you have received a firm conditional or unconditional offer for a full-time program at the University of Glasgow for the 2025/26 academic year.

Complete the scholarship application by selecting the “Apply Now” button on the University of Glasgow Sanctuary Scholarships webpage.

Submit your scholarship application by 11:00 pm on May 1, 2025. Applications submitted after this deadline will not be considered.
Important Notes:

Applicants must have applied to the University and received an offer before submitting a scholarship application. Submitting a scholarship application without a program offer will render the application invalid.

Should your immigration status change during your studies, inform the Scholarships Team promptly, as this may affect your eligibility for the scholarship. Changes will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
