The Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) in Pakistan, in collaboration with TWAS, is accepting applications for fellowships targeted at young scientists from developing nations (excluding Pakistan) who wish to undertake research for a PhD in Natural Sciences and Engineering.

The fellowship is available at the Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering (SBASSE) at LUMS, Lahore, for studies culminating in a PhD in Natural Sciences and Engineering. Candidates must not currently be registered for a PhD in their home country to be eligible for this fellowship. The maximum duration of the fellowship is 60 months, or five years. LUMS will provide a monthly stipend to cover expenses such as food, housing, local transportation, and minor medical emergencies, but it cannot be converted to foreign currency. Instruction will be conducted in English.

Candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Must be aged 35 or younger as of December 31 of the application year.
  • Hold a Master’s degree in a field of natural sciences.
  • Be citizens of a developing country (excluding Pakistan).
  • Not possess a visa for temporary or permanent residence in Pakistan or any developed country.
  • Provide proof of English proficiency if the medium of education was not English.
  • Show proof of intention to return to their home country upon completing the fellowship.
  • Avoid taking on other assignments during the fellowship period.
  • Be financially responsible for accompanying family members.
