Scholarship Details
The MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program at the University of Edinburgh focuses on addressing the climate crisis by nurturing a community of talented, entrepreneurial, and compassionate leaders across Africa.
This program equips young scholars with the knowledge, skills, and networks required to drive sustainable change through sustainability-focused postgraduate programs.
Eligibility Requirements
To be considered for the 2026 University of Edinburgh MasterCard Scholarship, applicants must:

Qualify academically for admission to a relevant Master’s program at the University of Edinburgh.

Hold at least a UK Second Class (Upper) Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent.

Have graduated from undergraduate studies by September 2024.

Be residents or citizens of Sub-Saharan African countries.

Have faced barriers to education (financial, social, or personal).

Be under 35 years old as of September 1, 2025.

Demonstrate leadership, service, and commitment to community development.

Show ambition or experience in addressing climate issues.

Have not completed a postgraduate degree previously.
Special consideration will be given to female scholars, refugees, and persons with disabilities.
