The London School of Hygiene LSHTM First Generation Scholarship

The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) offers the First Generation Scholarship for the 2025-26 academic year to support students pursuing an MSc degree through distance learning. This scholarship covers full tuition fees and is designed to assist individuals who are the first in their family to enter higher education.

Eligibility Criteria:

• First in Family to Attend University: Applicants must be the first in their family to enter higher education, meaning neither parent or guardian has obtained a university degree (BA, BSc, or higher) before the applicant turned 18.
• Admission Offer: Candidates must hold an offer of admission for one of LSHTM’s six distance learning MSc programmes for the 2025-26 academic year by March 28, 2025.
• Educational Background: Applicants should not already possess a master’s degree or a qualification higher than a master’s degree.
• English Language Proficiency: Applicants must meet LSHTM’s minimum English language requirements.

Application Process:

1. Apply for Admission: Submit an application for one of the eligible distance learning MSc programmes by following the instructions on LSHTM’s ‘Applying for a distance learning programme’ webpage. Ensure all necessary supplementary documents, including references, are submitted via the admissions portal.
2. Scholarship Application: After securing an offer of admission by March 28, 2025, eligible candidates will be invited to complete a supplementary question form. This form allows applicants to discuss the barriers they have faced in their education and how they have overcome them.
