Eligibility Requirements:
For Current PhD Students:
- Must be enrolled full-time in a PhD program at a university in Africa.
- Should be early in their PhD studies (not beyond the first year).
- Pursuing a PhD in Computer Science or related areas.
- Must remain enrolled for the duration of the Fellowship.
- Google employees and their family members are not eligible.
- Recipients of another corporate fellowship are not eligible.
For Current Undergraduate/Master’s Students and Professionals:
- Must join a full-time PhD program at a university in Africa within the calendar year of the award.
- Undergraduate or Master’s students should be enrolled full-time at an African university; professionals must be affiliated with an organization registered in Africa.
- The Fellowship award is contingent upon gaining admission to a full-time PhD program in Computer Science or related areas within the award year.
- Google employees and their family members are not eligible.
Required Documents:
- Resume with links to website and publications (if available).
- Academic transcripts from the first year/semester of the Bachelor’s degree to date.
- Research proposal (maximum 3 pages, excluding references).
- 2-3 letters of recommendation (at least one from the thesis advisor for current PhD students).
- Short (one-page) resume of the student’s PhD program advisor.
- Applicant’s essay response (350-word limit) addressing the impact of the scholarship on their education and any circumstances affecting their need for the scholarship.

- Select your country (of study) and proceed to the fellowship application.
- Use the submission forms to submit your application and upload all required documents.
Important Notes:
- Students from Africa, America, Canada, Australia, and Europe cannot apply directly to the program; they must be nominated by an eligible university during the application period.
- Ensure all application materials are in English.
