The Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES) Scholarship Programme in Germany is designed to support talented students from Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Eastern Europe who are committed to the values of social democracy. This fully funded scholarship is available for undergraduate, master’s, and PhD studies at German universities or technical colleges.

Scholarship Benefits:

  • Monthly Stipend: Undergraduate and master’s students receive up to €744 per month, while doctoral candidates receive €1,200 per month.

  • Health Insurance: Funding is provided to cover health insurance costs.

  • Family Allowance: Scholars with children can receive a monthly family allowance of €155.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Academic Excellence: Candidates must demonstrate outstanding academic performance.

  • Social and Political Engagement: Applicants should be actively involved in social and political activities aligned with the values of social democracy.

  • German Language Proficiency: A sufficient knowledge of German is required, even if courses are conducted in English. Acceptable certifications include DSH level 2, TestDaF level 4, or a Goethe Institute C1 certificate.

Application Process:

  1. Online Application: Complete the online application form, providing details about your professional and family background.

  2. Document Submission: If shortlisted, you will be asked to submit additional documents, such as two expert reports from university professors and information about your previous education and socio-political commitment.

  • Undergraduate and Master’s Programs: Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, but specific timelines apply. For instance, applications should be received no later than after the completion of the 6th semester for diploma/magister/state examination programs or after the 3rd semester for undergraduate programs.

  • PhD Candidates: Applications can be submitted at any time.
