The Ban Ki-moon Global Citizen Scholarship Program 2025 is a fully virtual initiative designed to empower young African leaders committed to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This program offers participants the opportunity to develop and implement localized SDG Micro-Projects, attend specialized academic training, and engage in various expert workshops and peer-to-peer mentoring sessions.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Citizenship: Applicants must be citizens of Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, Ethiopia, or Kenya.
- Age: Between 20 and 35 years old.
- Education: A minimum of a bachelor’s degree.
- Language Proficiency: At least a B2 level in English (European Standards).
- Commitment: Demonstrated dedication to the SDGs and the principles of global citizenship.
Program Benefits:
- Summer School Training: Full coverage for a one-week summer school on “Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Development” at the Management Center Innsbruck (MCI).
- Expert Workshops: Access to additional skills training sessions with various experts.
- Mentorship: Peer-to-peer mentoring from alumni of the BKMC Scholar program.
- Seed Funding: A grant of $500 USD to support the implementation of an SDG Micro-Project.
- Certification: A Certificate of Achievement upon successful completion of the program, signed by H.E. Ban Ki-moon and H.E. Dr. Heinz Fischer.
Application Process:
- Personal and Professional Information: Provide details such as name, contact information, date of birth, address, citizenship, gender, education, language proficiency, and a brief profile description.
- SDG Micro-Project Proposal: Submit information about your proposed project, including its title, the SDGs it addresses, and an outline of its implementation.
- Supporting Documents: Upload a motivational statement, a portrait photo, a 30-second introduction video, your curriculum vitae (CV), and a detailed project outline of your SDG Micro-Project idea.
