The Al Jazeera Fellowship Programme

Applications are now open for the 2026 Al Jazeera Fellowship Programme in Qatar. This fully funded fellowship, offered by the Al Jazeera Media Institute (AJMI), provides journalists and researchers worldwide with the opportunity to carry out in-depth research in media and journalism while gaining hands-on experience within the Al Jazeera Media Network.

🧾 Fellowship Details

The Al Jazeera Fellowship Programme allows selected journalists and scholars to produce a 7,000-word research paper on topics relevant to media and journalism.

During the programme, fellows will:

• Join AJMN teams and experience the media environment firsthand.

• Interact with editors, journalists, and researchers relevant to their project.

• Gain insights into journalism practices and digital media innovation.

✅ Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the 2026 Al Jazeera Fellowship Programme, applicants must:

• Hold at least a Bachelor’s degree.

• Be a full-time journalist or researcher (freelancer or employed).

• Have a minimum of 4 years of professional experience in journalism or related research.

• Possess strong research and writing skills.

• Be fluent in English (speaking and writing).

• Have a good understanding of academic writing in English.

⚠️ Note: The English Fellowship is open only to candidates from non-Arab countries. Applicants from Arab countries should apply for the Arabic Fellowship Programme.

🕒 Duration and Programme Structure

The fellowship lasts for two months, divided into two phases:

• Phase 1 (Remote): Submission of research plan and introduction.

• Phase 2 (On-site at AJMN Headquarters, Qatar): Full research completion and final paper submission.
