Scholarship Details

The Hornby Trust will award up to 10 fully funded scholarships to qualified applicants who meet the University of Exeter’s admission requirements for the MEd TESOL Programme (September 2026 entry).

The scholarship targets experienced English language teachers and related professionals who demonstrate the potential to enhance English language teaching and learning within their countries.

Awards are restricted to candidates who are nationals of and currently working in countries listed in the OECD DAC classification.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the 2026 University of Exeter Hornby Trust Scholarship, applicants must:

Be a resident of and employed in a low or middle-income country (OECD DAC listed).
Have at least 3 years of full-time TESOL teaching or related experience after completing their first degree.
Possess a Bachelor’s degree equivalent to a UK Upper Second Class Honours, or hold a relevant postgraduate degree.
First apply for admission to the University of Exeter’s MEd TESOL Programme to obtain an Exeter student number (required before submitting the scholarship application).
