The 2025 Adeola Oyinlade National Essay Competition is currently accepting applications from law students across Nigeria. This competition offers a total prize pool of ₦600,000, certificates of participation, and internship opportunities at Adeola Oyinlade & Co., a prominent Nigerian law firm.

Essay Topic: “Taxation and Development in Nigeria: Bridging the Gap Between Policy and Implementation”

Eligibility:

  • Open to 100–500 level law students enrolled in any federal, state, or private tertiary institution in Nigeria.

Prizes:

  • Winner: ₦300,000, an internship at Adeola Oyinlade & Co., and publication of the essay on Mondaq.
  • First Runner-up: ₦200,000 and an internship at Adeola Oyinlade & Co.
  • Second Runner-up: ₦100,000 and an internship at Adeola Oyinlade & Co.
  • 4th–10th Place Entrants: ₦50,000 each and an internship at Adeola Oyinlade & Co.
  • All participants whose entries adhere to the submission guidelines will receive a Certificate of Participation.

Submission Guidelines:

  • Essays must be individually authored; co-authorship is not permitted.
  • Submissions should be original and free from plagiarism.
  • Only one entry per participant is allowed.
  • Essays should not exceed 1,500 words, excluding footnotes, and must not contain images or graphical illustrations.
  • The essay must be written in English and submitted in Microsoft Word format, using Times New Roman font, size 12, double-spaced, and justified alignment.
  • Proper referencing using the OSCOLA style is required.
  • The entrant’s full name should be the only personal detail on the manuscript to ensure impartiality.
