Swansea University International Excellence Scholarship

Swansea University is now accepting applications for the International Postgraduate Research Excellence Scholarship (SUIPRES) 2025. This competitive scholarship aims to support outstanding international students pursuing eligible PhD or Professional Doctorate programmes at the university.

Founded in 1920, Swansea University is renowned for its research-led teaching, vibrant community, and excellent quality of life in Wales, UK.

Scholarship Benefits

• Tuition Fee Offset: Covers the difference between international and home tuition fees.

• Annual Tuition: Scholars pay the UK rate (currently £4,786 for 2024/25), which is adjusted yearly in line with UKRI guidelines (approx. 3% increase annually).

• Duration: Full length of the PhD or Professional Doctorate programme.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered, applicants must:

• Apply to an eligible PhD or Professional Doctorate programme at Swansea University. View Courses

• Hold or expect to achieve:

  • A UK 1st Class or 2:1 Honours degree or

  • A Distinction in a UK Master’s degree (or international equivalent).

• Be classed as an international student, liable for overseas tuition fees.

• Demonstrate academic excellence and relevant achievements beyond academic qualifications.

• Not already enrolled in or returning to a PhD/Doctorate programme at Swansea.

• Not be fully sponsored by a third party.

• Note: This scholarship is not available for Master’s degree applicants.

How to Apply

1. Apply for an eligible PhD or Professional Doctorate programme.

2. In your application, indicate your interest in the SUIPRES Scholarship.

3. Submit a supporting statement showcasing:

   • Academic achievements

   • Prizes or awards

   • Outreach, teaching, or other relevant experiences

4. If selected, your scholarship status will be outlined in your offer letter.
