PhD Student in Entrepreneurship and Innovation

Your academic journey will be rooted in the domain of Entrepreneurship and Innovation, renowned for its cutting-edge research and excellence in teaching in Sweden, where many faculty members publish in high-impact journals.
Exploring the Realm of Entrepreneurship and Innovation
The Entrepreneurship and Innovation field revolves around organizational development, with a special focus on enhancing businesses through innovative products, services, production solutions, and management practices.
Embarking on the Circular Business Models Project
We are seeking a PhD student to conduct research aligned with our focus on business model innovation, the circular economy, and sustainable industry. This project revolves around designing and developing circular business models within an industrial ecosystem of partnerships, propelling the green transition. It adopts an innovative ecosystem perspective, diving into the economic, social, and environmental value of these business models. A significant part of this research focuses on addressing the practical needs of businesses, mapping out challenges, proposing solutions, and facilitating their implementation.
Through close collaboration with key organizations like ABB, Ragn-Sells, Volvo, LKAB Minerals, your contributions will drive their growth and development. This project is a pivotal part of the Green Transition North initiative, designed to foster sustainable change in Northern Sweden, primarily funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
Role and Qualifications
As a PhD student, your responsibilities encompass a blend of experimental and theoretical work within your research studies, complemented by the dissemination of your findings through national and international conferences and scientific journals. Your primary focus will be your independent research studies, with opportunities to explore teaching roles. As a researcher, you’ll play a neutral role in various contexts, offering valuable insights for managing complex development projects.
Requirements for Application
Applicants must meet the general entry requirements for doctoral (third-cycle) studies, which include a completed Master’s degree with a minimum of 240 credits, with at least 60 of those being second-cycle credits. Equivalency achieved through other means is also considered. You are welcome to apply even if you are in the final year of your Master’s program. In addition to the general entry requirements, knowledge of business administration, industrial engineering, management, or equivalent subjects is essential. A strong motivation for doctoral studies and effective collaboration and communication skills are imperative. Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, is essential, while knowledge of Swedish is advantageous but not mandatory.
Additional Information
The employment period for a PhD student is limited to four years, with the option to engage in teaching and departmental duties, adding up to a maximum of 20%. This may extend the employment period. Compensation is in line with current agreements, and the position is based at the Department of Social Sciences, Technology, and Arts on the Luleå campus. An immediate start is highly desirable.
