The Government of New Zealand is offering fully funded Manaaki Scholarships for the 2025 academic year to applicants from developing countries who wish to pursue postgraduate studies at New Zealand’s top tertiary institutions. These scholarships cover tuition, travel, housing, and provide a monthly living allowance.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Age: Applicants must be at least 18 years old at the start of the scholarship.
- Academic and English Language Requirements: Applicants must meet the academic entry and English language requirements of their chosen New Zealand education institution.
- Work Experience: Postgraduate applicants and those who completed high school more than three years ago must have relevant work experience, which can be paid, unpaid, or voluntary:
- One year of full-time work experience (30 hours or more per week), or
- Two years of part-time work experience (up to 29 hours per week).
Benefits:
- Full Tuition Fees: Coverage of all tuition costs.
- Living Allowance: A stipend of NZ$531 per week to assist with basic living expenses.
- Establishment Allowance: A one-time payment of NZ$3,000 to help with initial expenses such as accommodation and study materials.
- Medical Insurance: Comprehensive health coverage during the stay in New Zealand.
- Travel Expenses: Includes travel to and from the home country at the beginning and end of the scholarship, as well as travel insurance.
- Home Visits: For scholars studying longer than 1.6 years, provisions are made for travel home to visit family, subject to border settings and other restrictions.
- Reintegration Allowance: A NZ$1,000 payment to assist with costs upon returning to the home country.
- Research and Thesis Costs: Financial support for research and thesis expenses for postgraduate students.

- Eligibility Test: Complete the Manaaki New Zealand Scholarships online eligibility test to determine if you qualify to apply.
- Registration: If eligible, register for a Manaaki New Zealand Scholarship Account.
- Application Submission: Use your account to access the online application system and submit your application before the deadline.
