Funded by the Carnegie Corporation of New York (CCNY) and administered by the Institute of International Education (IIE), this program has granted a total of 665 African Diaspora Fellowships for scholars to engage with educational projects in Africa since its establishment in 2013.

Application Cycle:

Applying to CADFP: The application process involves two main components: Project Requests and Scholar Applications.
Project Requests:
- African institutions in Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, and member institutions of the African Research Universities Alliance (ARUA) and partner universities with the Consortium for Advanced Research Training in Africa (CARTA) can submit Project Requests.
- Project areas include research collaboration, graduate student teaching/mentoring, and curriculum co-development.
- Host institutions can either collaborate with a specific scholar or submit without naming a scholar, relying on IIE to match qualified candidates from the Roster.
Scholar Applications:
- African-born academics currently residing in the United States or Canada and employed at higher education institutions can submit a Scholar Application to the Scholar Roster.
- Scholars can either work with a specific host institution on a Project Request or remain on the roster until a suitable project aligns with their expertise.
