The University of Queensland (UQ) is offering fully funded Graduate School Scholarships (UQGSS) for domestic and international students aiming to pursue research-focused postgraduate degrees, such as the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or Master of Philosophy (MPhil), in 2025.

Scholarship Benefits:

  • Living Stipend: Recipients will receive a tax-free stipend of $36,400 per annum (2025 rate), indexed annually.

  • Tuition Fees: The scholarship fully covers tuition fees for the duration of the program.

  • Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC): For international students, the scholarship includes Single Overseas Student Health Cover.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be considered for the UQGSS, applicants must:

  • Nomination: Be nominated by an enrolling school or institute at UQ.

  • Admission Requirements: Meet all conditions for admission to the higher degree by research program as assessed by the Graduate School.

  • Funding Restrictions: Not be receiving a living allowance award or scholarship providing a benefit greater than 75% of the RTP Scholarship living allowance rate to undertake the higher degree by research program.

Application Process:

  1. Identify a Research Supervisor: Contact a researcher at UQ with relevant expertise and obtain their agreement to support your proposed research project.

  2. Check Eligibility: Ensure you meet the eligibility criteria for a PhD or MPhil at UQ.

  3. Prepare Documentation: Gather all necessary documents, including academic transcripts, research proposals, and any other required materials.

  4. Submit Application: Apply for the higher degree by research program at UQ. During the application process, under the ‘Scholarship and Collaborative study’ section, select the option indicating your wish to be considered for a UQ scholarship to cover living allowance stipend and tuition fee expenses.

  • For Research Quarter 1 (RQ1) or Research Quarter 2 (RQ2) 2025 Start – Domestic Applicants:

    • Applications Open: July 15, 2024

    • Applications Close: September 8, 2024

    • Outcome Notifications: From December 16, 2024

  • For Research Quarter 3 (RQ3) or Research Quarter 4 (RQ4) 2025 Start – Domestic Applicants:

    • Applications Open: February 17, 2025

    • Applications Close: March 23, 2025

    • Outcome Notifications: From July 4, 2025
