Following several successful iterations of the Global Citizen Scholarship Program, the Ban Ki-moon Centre for Global Citizens (BKMC) is pleased to invite applications for the seventh cycle of the scholarship. This initiative aims to inspire and enable young African leaders who are committed to driving action for the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Ban Ki-moon Centre for Global Citizens is a nonprofit organization headquartered in Vienna, Austria, and was founded in January 2018. It operates under Austrian law and is co-chaired by Ban Ki-moon, former UN Secretary-General, and Heinz Fischer, former President of Austria.

The Global Citizen Scholarship is a virtual program designed to empower young African activists to tackle SDGs in their communities by devising and executing localized micro-projects. Scholars participate in a summer school, peer mentoring, and expert training sessions on specific subjects. The program spans 8-9 months and includes full coverage for a week-long summer school with MCI Innsbruck, additional workshops, mentorship opportunities, and a seed fund of $500 USD for project implementation. Upon successful completion of an SDG micro-project, scholars receive a certificate of achievement signed by the co-chairs of the Ban Ki-moon Centre.
